What is the gas-assisted injection molding?
Today we will talk about the case of gas-assisted injection molding of kettle handles.
During the injection molding process, push the melt plastic to fill the mold cavity by high pressure, and the gas is maintained to form a hollow section inside the thick wall of the plastic part, this molding process is called gas-assisted injection molding.
The handle is made by PP material, the mold cavity is 1*2 , texture surface finishing on cavity and core side, the average wall is 2.5mm, and the maximum wall thickness is 30mm, we used the full shot by gas-assisted injection molding process , the cycle time is 60 seconds, it achieves fully automatic production.
Normally the handle is composed of an upper and lower cover, there will be parting line at the part combination area, so the touchness is not good, but the parting line was removed and the part weight was reduced 20% after we use gas-assisted injection molding, the handle is composed of one whole part, and also there are no shrink mark and gas mark on the surface, it’s truly achieving weight reduction and material saving, beautiful appearance, flawless surface and so on.
